Civilian of the Year

Angie Madruga

Administrative Assistant Angie Madruga began her employment with the Police Department on August 1, 2006.  She is a self-motivated, energetic member of the Department, who is always willing to help out in whatever way she can and at a moment's notice.  Angie offers insights and suggestions that are aimed at improving both our internal operations, as well as the services that we deliver to the public.  Her willingness to assist, support and serve extends to other City departments, criminal justice agencies, and individual members of the public.

Angie is responsible to support and assist the Training Sergeant in planning and delivering training for the Department.  In this role, Angie is often recognized for her efforts at thinking beyond her primary duties, working diligently to anticipate changes and adapting to meet future training requirements for both civilian and sworn employees.  During the past year, she distinguished herself by developing more efficient ways to coordinate department-wide training by revising training-related forms, enlisting better ways to utilize our training management software, and streamlining the request and approval process to attend training.

Angie is also a very active and energetic board member of the Monterey Police Employees Association.  She volunteers to plan, organize, and host events and activities that benefit the entire Department.  Angie's efforts go a long way toward keeping the morale of the Department positive and upbeat.

Angie has a great sense of humor, loves to laugh and always has a smile on her face.  she maintains a positive, can do attitude and is always looking to brighten someone's day.  These are extremely important and valued attributes in today's busy and fast-paced world, where we oftentimes forget that people are still the most important thing.

We are very pleased to recognize and honor Angie Madruga as the 2007 Civilian of the Year.
