Civilian of the Year
Angie Madruga
Administrative Assistant Angie Madruga began her
employment with the Police Department on August 1, 2006. She is a
self-motivated, energetic member of the Department, who is always
willing to help out in whatever way she can and at a moment's notice.
Angie offers insights and suggestions that are aimed at improving both
our internal operations, as well as the services that we deliver to the
public. Her willingness to assist, support and serve extends to
other City departments, criminal justice agencies, and individual
members of the public.
Angie is responsible to support and assist the
Training Sergeant in planning and delivering training for the
Department. In this role, Angie is often recognized for her
efforts at thinking beyond her primary duties, working diligently to
anticipate changes and adapting to meet future training requirements for
both civilian and sworn employees. During the past year, she
distinguished herself by developing more efficient ways to coordinate
department-wide training by revising training-related forms, enlisting
better ways to utilize our training management software, and
streamlining the request and approval process to attend training.
Angie is also a very active and energetic board
member of the Monterey Police Employees Association. She
volunteers to plan, organize, and host events and activities that
benefit the entire Department. Angie's efforts go a long way
toward keeping the morale of the Department positive and upbeat.
Angie has a great sense of humor, loves to laugh and
always has a smile on her face. she maintains a positive, can do
attitude and is always looking to brighten someone's day. These
are extremely important and valued attributes in today's busy and
fast-paced world, where we oftentimes forget that people are still the
most important thing.
We are very pleased to recognize and honor Angie
Madruga as the 2007 Civilian of the Year.
