The Road to Guanajuato:  A Reading and Book Signing by Joe Livernois

Monterey Public Library will present a reading followed by a book signing of The Road to Guanajuato by the author Joe Livernois, in celebration of Father's Day, on Saturday, June 20, 2 - 3:30 p.m., in the Library Community Room.

From the book description:
“Estranged from his father for 23 years, Joe Livernois recently joined his siblings for a reunion on the occasion of his father's eightieth birthday, in the heart of Mexico. The Road to Guanajuato is a personal account of the circumstances that led to the estrangement. The may not have found what they thought they needed from this incorrigible man on their trip, but the reunion was a mystical, heartening, maddening and comic experience that included inept bullfighters, an international beer-drinking contest, the Mayan Oracle, a warehouse for mummies, a Mexican soap opera star, an ubiquitous procession of pilgrims, a tamale standoff and the most sweetly sincere and happy people they had ever met."

Proceeds from any sales of the author’s books will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Adults are invited to attend and admission is free. For more information contact Victor Henry at 831.646.2091. The Library is located at 625 Pacific Street, Monterey.
