The Monterey Public Library will present its annual "I Can Read Party" for First Graders and their parents on Saturday, January 26, at 3 p.m., in the Library Community Room, honoring an important turning point in children's lives.  There will be book talks, a cake, party favors and a visit from the Cat in the Hat.  Admission is free but space is limited.  Pre-registration is recommended.  Call 831.646.3934, visit or e-mail the Youth Services Desk.  For more information contact Karen Brown at 831.646.3744.
