Library Issues Apology for E-mail Problem
The Monterey Public Library issued an apology for proliferation of
e-mails that were generated following yesterday’s publication of the
Library’s online newsletter. The Library has found that a problem
occurred which caused newsletter subscribers to reply to all other
subscribers as well as non-subscribers. The Library and the City are
continuing to look into the cause of the problem. At this point, the
major part of this problem has been resolved by taking down the
e-mail list, and the Library is working closely with its service
provider to resolve any remaining issues.
“At the Library, we value our relationships with our customers and
the community, and I very much regret that this happened,” said
Library Director Kim Bui-Burton. “We are taking a close look at how
we distribute our electronic newsletter in the future so that this
does not ever happen again.”
Library customers may continue to receive Circulation notices via
e-mail without receiving unwanted messages. For further information,
please contact Library Director Kim Bui-Burton at 831.646.5601 or
