Free Distribution of Compact Fluorescent
Light Bulbs
From November 27 through 29, the Library will participate in the City of
Monterey’s distribution of 5,000 free Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)
provided by the Sierra Club, as part of PG & E’s one million northern
California giveaway program. Use of these 5,000 bulbs will replace
incandescent light bulbs of 60 watts, and result in saving 225,000 kilowatt
hours. The bulbs last up to seven times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Up to two free CFLs will be given to each household, and recipients will be
required to record their name and address to be eligible. The CFLs may be
picked up at the Library on Tuesday and
Wednesday, November 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., and on Thursday,
November 29, from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. CFLs will also be available at
Bookmobile stops on Wednesday, from 12:45
until 3:30 p.m. at the Tech Connection on Leahy & Farragut Roads, and from
4:15 until 5:15 p.m. at Hilltop Park Center; and on Thursday from 1:00 until
2:00 p.m. at Park Lane, 2:15 until 3:15 p.m. at Hoffman Avenue, and 4:45
until 5:45 p.m. at Del Monte Beach.
