Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
When I first read this book I didn't think it would be as good as it
turned out to be. This book is great, the storyline is really
something different. The world Scott Westerfeld sets up in this book
is just wow. I liked this book so much that I went on to read and
finish the whole 3 book series in less than a month (A new personal
record for me!) This is a great book for teens or anyone, I'd
suggest this book. Reviewed by Nafisa. Four stars.
Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer
This great book is the
4th in the Artemis Fowl Series, so it is best if you read the first
three to better understand it. This is the story of Artemis Fowl,
his bodyguard Butler, and his fairy friends Holly Short, Commander
Root, Mulch Diggums, and Foaly. The antagonist of the book is the
returning evil pixie, Opal Koboi. Opal devises a plan to not only
kill each of the heroes that ruined her plan in the second book, but
to expose the fairy world to the humans. Once again its up Artemis
and his followers to keep the two worlds from colliding which is
much harder for them because Artemis can hardly remember what
Fairies are let alone how to save them. They also must try to escape
the dastardly deaths that Opal has planned for them, which only some
may accomplish. This is a page turner that keeps you on the edge of
your seat. Some parts are a bit predictable, but this tale also has
many twists and turns. You'll laugh and cry and you'll maybe even
want to go looking for fairies yourself. Hope you enjoy it :^)

I LOVED this book! The day I got it and started reading, I couldn't put it down. I was so drawn into this book that I kept reading into the night and till 5am! (That pretty much never happens with me, unless the book is really good) Which this book is, in my opinion. I highly suggest it! The beginning is a little slow, but all in all this is a great book. The Cooperstown Murders by Milton Henry Levine
I am a really serious baseball fan and the thought of a murder mystery set in Baseball's hometown really got to me. This is an action packed thriller centering around a casino being built in Cooperstown New York, It's called The Last Mohican, and that is name of the villain in the story, who accelerates his war on Cooperstown throughout the book. The book is pretty literary, particularly in its portrait of George Whitson jr and his partner Curley. George is the son of the mayor of Cooperstown and he was a great ballplayer in the 60s but lost everything to drugs and spent most of his life as a San Francisco based burnout. The scenes involving him and his friend Curley as the mark his return to Cooperstown after 33 year are Dickensian: funny and very sad at the same time. I loved this book. Reviewed by Fred. Five stars
The Second Virgin Birth by Tommy Taylor
I was told to read The Second Virgin Birth to read by a friend who said it was good. Before reading it I thought that it was most likely another Da Vinci Code. Boy was I wrong, it is so much better. The characters and events are so believable that one wonders when this is actually going to take place. The chapters are short and that was a problem for me. I wanted to stop reading the book and begin it again tomorrow, but as I would finish a chapter, I would look ahead and think, well it's only 7 more pages and I would read that, try to put it down and do the same thing over and over. In other words, I wanted to find out what happened next more than I wanted to go to sleep. It was a fast and entertaining read that held my attention the whole time. The fact that Mr. Taylor made his major character, Mary, a sweet little girl, go insane at the age of six, completely caught me off guard and I had to adjust all of my preconceptions of how I thought this character would play out. The book was one, "I did not see that coming," after another. In most reviews I say that I don't want to tell the reader too much and spoil the ending, however in this book, I can't tell you too much because story has several very original new thoughts running throughout the book and I don't want to give any of them away. For once, I felt that I truly got my money's worth. I bought this book on Amazon.com. Reviewed by Jim. Five Stars
