The Cooperstown Murders / Milton Henry Levine

I am a really serious baseball fan and the thought of a murder mystery set in Baseball's hometown really got to me. This is an action packed thriller centering around a casino being built in Cooperstown New York, It's called The Last Mohican, and that is name of the villain in the story, who accelerates his war on Cooperstown throughout the book. The book is pretty literary, particularly in its portrait of George Whitson jr and his partner Curley. George is the son of the mayor of Cooperstown and he was a great ballplayer in the 60s but lost everything to drugs and spent most of his life as a San Francisco based burnout. The scenes involving him and his friend Curley as the mark his return to Cooperstown after 33 year are Dickensian: funny and very sad at the same time. I loved this book.
