Find a list of activities, programs, and more that are appropriate for younger audiences!

  • Unite for Literacy - A program to ensure that all children have access to an abundance of free books that celebrate their cultures and languages.
  • Watch Mr. Roger's Neighborhood - Watch full-length Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood programs. The first Monday of every month will feature programs from the early years 1968-1975. The third Monday of every month will feature programs from the “Theme Weeks” library 1979-2001
  • Scholastic Learn at Home - Day to day projects to keeps kids learning and growing. Plenty of free resources, activity guides, links to online storybooks and more. Provides education resources from Pre-K to 9th grade.
  • Everywhere Book Fest - The Everywhere Book Fest is a virtual celebration of authors, books, and readers that brings the book festival experience to everyone! On May 1-2, the book festival will open its virtual doors and unveil two free full days of live and pre-recorded sessions with your favorite picture book, middle grade, and young adult authors.
  • Author Kate Messenger's Resources - This is a library of resources for kids, teens, families, teachers, and librarians to make sure that reading & learning can happen anywhere this spring.
  • Jbrary - This is an evolving list of online storytime resources for families, preschools, and day cares. It includes videos, websites, and podcasts to support those who cannot make it to the library for any reason. The focus is on early literacy support online – songs, rhymes, movement, and stories.
  • Kids Ask Authors - Kids Ask Authors is a weekly 5-10 minute podcast where children’s book author/illustrator Grace Lin and a guest author answer one question from a child reader. Most episodes will end with a book review, poem, short story or a joke by kids! We hope that this podcast will be useful to all student writers and those helping them on their journey!
  • Storyline Online - The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Benning, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more.
  • Creativity Catapult - Creativity Catapult is a research-backed, expert-curated collection of activities that promote creativity skills in children ages 2-14.
  • Kids Activities Blog - A happy place filled with easy things to do with kids that don’t require special skills, lots of money or advance planning. <–no one has time for that! (There are a lot of ads on this page, but the information offered is wonderful.)
  • PBS Learning Media for Students - KQED and PBS have curated FREE, standards-aligned videos, interactive storybooks and more for younger students.
  • Learning Activities and Ideas for Kids and Teens - While your children are not at school, you can promote their learning by working with them on the following activities. Use the navigation at the top of the screen to see a list of activities by grade level.
  • The Fable Cottage - New versions of traditional tales especially for language learners, teachers, and anyone who enjoys a nice story.
