The Friends of the Monterey Public Library and the Monterey Public Library Endowment Committee present "An Introduction to Olive Oil Tasting" with expert Louie Gonzalez, on Thursday, March 29, 5:30 p.m. at Montrio Bistro. 

Learn to evaluate olive oils by tasting three different oils through aroma and flavor to determine what you like. Find out what makes good olive oil, how to store it, and how to best use what many foodies call "liquid gold".
Ask questions of an expert.Louis Gonzalez has been an olive oil taster for over 14 years. A former Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist, he is currently writing a directory of the olive oil industry in California and the U.S. to assist and promote producers and consumers. Louie founded Rancho El Molino Gourmet Foods to bring high quality Hispanic foods to consumers in the marketplace.  He sits on the University of California Cooperative Extension Olive Oil Research Taste Panel, among his many research and industry activities.

Adults are invited to attend and tickets are available at $10, which will be donated to the Friends of the Library.  Purchase tickets in advance at the Library.  Reservations are required.  Call 831.646.5632 or email thongchu@ci.monterey.ca.us. 

The event takes place at Montrio Bistro, The Parker Room (2nd floor), located at 414 Calle Principal, Monterey.  Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
