FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monterey Public Library presents a facilitated discussion of the book, Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, with an introductory talk by Mas Hashimoto, on Monday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m., in the Library Community Room.  Mr. Hashimoto, a member of the Board of the Watsonville-Santa Cruz Japanese American Citizens League and retired teacher of U.S. History, will speak about his personal experience with the Japanese internment during WWII where his family was detained in Poston, Arizona. Reference Librarian Victor Henry will lead the discussion. California Reads programs are made possible with support from Cal Humanities in partnership with California Center for the Book.  Read the book and join the discussion.
