The Monterey Public Library and Bookmobile will kick-off the annual Summer Reading Program for kids, teens and adults on Saturday, June 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. Participants may sign up for the program and enjoy a variety of activities throughout the afternoon. 

This year's Summer Reading Program theme  is "Reading is So Delicious!" Activities will include Mad Science Kitchen Chemistry at 1:30 p.m., and Mad Science Tantalizing Taste at 3 p.m. for ages six and up, along with  Carnivorous Plants with Bay Area Botanicals, an opportunity to meet local chef Mary Chamberlin, author of The Traveling Soup Pot: A Savory Journey through Many Lands, Napkin FoldingMonterey Bay Derby DamesRe-think your Drink with Network for a Healthy California, information on United Nations food programs around the world, a cakewalk, snacks, and crafts.

The free, individualized, noncompetitive Summer Reading Program will continue through July 31, with prizes and weekly activities.  For more information check the program flyer, call 831.646.3934 or visit www.monterey.org/library.
