Fundraising Event with Bestselling Author Lisa See

The Friends of the Monterey Public Library and the MPL Endowment Committee present an Author's Luncheon Benefit with Lisa See on Sunday, October 23, 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., in the Ball Room of the InterContinental Hotel - The Clement Monterey on historic Cannery Row.  The best best-selling author will speak about her work which include Dreams of Joy, Shanghai Girls and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.  Doors will open at 11 a.m. for an Artisans' Marketplace and Silent Auction.  Ms. See will talk about her newest book during lunch, which will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by a book sale and signing from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.  Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Monterey Public Library and the Monterey Public Library Endowment. 

The event will be followed at 1:30 p.m. by an Historic Chinese Sites Walking Tour led by Geraldine Low-Sabado, who will share stories of the history of the Chinese fishing village which will conclude at McAbee Beach, where Gerry will perform a ceremony honoring Chinese ancestors who contributed to the success of Monterey, and will conclude with a performance by the Monterey Bay Lion  Dance Team.  Admission to the walking tour is free of charge, but reservations are required by calling 831.646.5632.  Meet in the InterContinental Hotel Ball Room.
