Kids and Families

The Monterey Public Library is a center for exploration and learning for all ages, through books and beyond. Are you looking for a great book to read? Do you need help with a homework assignment? Great! You've come to the right place for those and more.

Happy child, happy librarian. How about some multisensory, hands-on learning? Our programs recognize the enormous potential for learning together. We offer creative experiences for families with babies first discovering their world through teens and their wealth of fresh ideas.

In addition to books for all ages, our collections include books on CD, DVDs, magazines, age-appropriate research databases, and free downloadable ebooks and audiobooks.

Highlights are our extensive folk and fairy tale collection and our Storytime Kits, complete with specially chosen picture books on popular subjects, puppets, flannel boards, and everything you need to take the storytime experience home with you. Child playing with blocks at the library.

You're always welcome to ask our highly skilled children's librarians for personal guidance. We're librarians. We love questions and we'd love to meet you.
