Health Benefits of Olive Oil & Dark Chocolate: Lecture & Tasting

Cardiologist and Quail & Olive owner, Stephen Brabeck, MD and Integrated Pharmacist Brian Ellinoy, PharmD will discuss how olive oil and dark chocolate are essential to preventing heart disease and other chronic illnesses.   Samples of olive oils and dark chocolates will be offered.   

This event is part of The Next Chapter: Designing Your Ideal Life lecture series sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Monterey Public Library Endowment Committee.  Adults are invited to attend.  Admission is free, and reservations are required.  Call (831) 646-5632 or email thongchu@monterey.org.  The Monterey Public Library is located at 625 Pacific Street, Monterey.

Did you know the library offers free ebooks? Have you been meaning to try using them but aren't sure how to get started? Get stuck the last time you tried? Want tips and tricks to maximize your usage? Would some one-on-one assistance help get you started? Our Library Technology Volunteer Steven will help! Bring your device and/or laptop and we'll walk through the steps. 11th Annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Tickets are now on sale for the Friends of the Monterey Public Library's 11th annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting on Friday, February 19, 7 - 9 p.m.  $30 in advance or $35 at the door.  Enjoy a delightful array of chocolate treats and sample delicious wines from Prosecco to Port. Must be 21-up to attend.   Purchase tickets at the library Help Desk or visit www.mplfriends.com  

MORE EXCITING NEWS!  This year the Friends will bring back their popular CHOCOLATE COOKIE CONTEST!  Here are the rules:
1)  Bring 2 dozen chocolate cookies on a disposable plate and the recipe to the Library (625 Pacific Street, Monterey) on Thursday, February 18, between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  2)  DO NOT put your name on anything - you will sign in and receive a number identifying your offering.  3)  Winners will be announced on Friday, February 19 at the Chocolate & Wine Tasting Benefit.  4)  Cookies will be judged on taste, appearance, originality, and amount of chocolate.  5)  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and an honorable mention.
