Monterey Public Library presents a book launch party with author E.Ardell to celebrate the publication of her science fiction novel, THE FOURTH PIECE Book I in the Order's Last Play series.

Join Master Gardener Susan Brown for a free workshop to learn about the many attributes of common garden herbs and how to make these versatile plants thrive in your garden.

Susan Brown is a writer and storyteller. She became a Master Gardener in 2014 to better understand the unfolding drama that happens in her garden and to share those stories!

Dr. Susan Shillinglaw will speak about Mexican culture and history as part of The Big Read initiative.  The library is hosting this event in cooperation with the National Steinbeck Center.   This year's Big Read selection is Sun, Stone, and Shadows; 20 Great Mexican Short Stories  by Jorge F. Health Starts at Home! Household Toxins May Contribute to Your Allergy Symptoms

Toxins in your home can contribute to allergies, asthma and other chronic challenges of the immune system.  Deb Oleynik, ND will discuss how some home products may contribute to nagging symptoms and illnesses. She will suggest small, easy to-do, changes that can create a long-term, big impact and keep you and your family in the best of health.

The lecture takes place in the Community Room.  Admission is free but reservations are required.  Adults ages 50-up are especially encouraged to attend.  Sign up in advance at the Help Desk or contact Sirie Thongchua at 831.646.5632.  The lecture is part of the "Next Chapter" Lecture Series sponsored by the Monterey Public Library Friends of the Library and the Endowment Committee.

Dr. Oleynik graduated from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA and practiced in a primary care setting in Great Falls, MT for 12 years where she helped her patients overcome chronic digestive issues, hormone imbalances and much more.  She started Natural Balance Health Consulting after identifying a need for more personalized, in-home health care support.
