MaryLee Sunseri presents traditional and original activity songs and fingerplays for parents and caregivers to enjoy with their babies and young children.  She is the winner for 4 Parents Choice Awards and 2 American Library  Notable Children's Recordings.  Please join us at the library as we sing and move along to these magical, musical songs and chants. This program is for babies 0-23 months and their families.

What is Go?

 

Go is a strategy game. Its simple rules and deep strategies have intrigued everyone from emperors to peasants, to astronauts in space to grade school students. Learn to play, compete and have fun. 

You will have an instructor who will teach you the fundamentals, and all resources and equipment will be provided for you. All ages are welcome to attend this event.

 

The Go Club's first meeting is on September 4, 2015 @ 3:15 PM. (Right before anime club:) ).

Free movies and popcorn at the library?  Yes, we still do that.

 

Come in after school and watch a movie. Now, most of you know the drill by now, but due to copyright restrictions I cannot say the name of the movie online, but if you come into the library you can grab a flyer, or you could call or send me an e-mail to ask. I can also give you a hint :). Everybody group of friends has one. Everybody knows one. Or maybe you are one. Based on a popular book by Kody Keplinger.

Voices & Images: Exhibit of Photos from Japanese-American Families in Monterey

October 3 - 24. Gallery Hours: Thursday - Sunday 12 noon - 4 p.m.

The Library's California History Room has over 30,000 historic photos in its archival collection, featuring many aspects of life in our fascinating and diverse community.  In our latest community heritage project, Voices and Images, we collected over 325 photos from the albums of Japanese-Americans from Monterey.  A subset of these photos will be on exhibit in Casa Gutierrez, 590 Calle Principal, Monterey, Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, and thereafter Thursdays through Sundays through October 24.  Gallery hours are 12 noon - 4 p.m.

This project of the Friends of the Monterey Public Library is funded through a grant from the Thomas Doud, the Sr., and Anita M. Doud 1 Fund, and the Marcia DeVoe Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County.
