Fireworks of any type are prohibited in Monterey. Having them or using them could cost you $1000. If you are visiting our beach, please bring your own garbage/recycling bag and take your trash with you. The City of Monterey thanks you and wishes you a fun and safe 4th of July!

Parade - starts at 10 a.m.

The 4th of July Parade Planning Committee, Old Monterey Business Association and City of Monterey are pleased to announce the return of the Monterey 4th of July Parade! On Thursday, July 4, thousands of people will watch the star-spangled excitement of creative floats, specialty units, musical units and guest celebrities! This patriotic Independence Day parade will start at 10 a.m. and is expected to take approximately one hour to pass along a route through downtown Monterey. [Read more...]

Lawn Party - 11 to 4:30 p.m.

The City of Monterey will continue to offer the Admission Free Big Little Backyard Bar-B-Que and Entertainment Extravaganza held on the historic grounds of Colton Hall on Pacific Street. Entertainment will be available for all ages. This event features non-stop live music from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Featured bands include Monterey Community Band (11:00 a.m.), Pop Fiction – Totally 80’s! (12:00 p.m.), The Money Band (1:30 p.m.) and The Fundamentals (3:00 p.m.). Children's entertainment includes free carnival booths and games, face painting, jump houses and balloon artists. Lots of great food provided by non-profit food vendors will be on sale all day, or you can bring a picnic lunch. Please leave your dogs at home and note that this is an ALCOHOL FREE family event. Concert - 7 p.m.

The Monterey County Pops will be hosting a FREE Patriotic Concert at Jacks Ballpark in downtown Monterey next to the Monterey Sports Center. Gates will open at 5pm for prime lawn & blanket seating. Bleacher seating also available as well as a great food and beverage concession. The concert begins at 7 p.m. For more info go online to montereycountypops.org
