What are the benefits?
Some of the benefits of HomeShare are:

Homeowners:

  • Receive services they need to live independently

  • Earn extra income by renting a room

  • Receive companionship and added security while living in their own home

Homeseekers:

  • Need decent housing but can't afford high rents

  • Are willing to exchange services for rent

  • Don't like living alone

We connect people who have homes with people seeking affordable housing.

What does this service cost?
HomeShare is a program of the Alliance on Aging, a non-profit agency. There are no fees for our services. We match seniors (55 plus) with compatible people of all ages.

This is not a landlord-tenant arrangement, but an agreement between two people to share a home, certain responsibilities and expenses.

We would like to thank the City of Monterey and the Monterey County Herald for their support of this program.
