View Invitation

The City of Monterey would like to
invite you to an update on progress
reducing our environmental footprint on Tuesday, July 22, at 3:00
p.m. in front of Colton Hall. The event
marks the one-year anniversary of the
signing of the U.N. Urban Environmental Accords and the Mayors'
Climate Protection Agreement.
The signing of these agreements
represent a turning point for the City of
Monterey, one which brings environmental
planning to the forefront of City efforts.
Achievements to date include energy efficiency and
water conservation upgrades at major facilities, a city-wide
recycling outreach campaign, passage of a
Green Building Ordinance, an integrated
pest management system, B20 biodiesel for the City fleet
and fire trucks, and much more.
The event will allow participants to
experience environmentally friendly
practices such as composting and green cleaning products.
The goal of the event is to educate and encourage people to
take individual action. We would also like
to call attention to regional efforts in
this area and encourage future collaboration and
cooperation between jurisdictions throughout Monterey County.
Refreshments provided. We hope you
can join us.
