Pay Attention to Emergency Vehicles

In Memory of Councilmember Vreeland
This issue of City Focus is dedicated in memory of Councilmember Ruth Vreeland, who died in a traffic accident in January.
Councilmember Vreeland, who served on the City Council for more than 20 years, supported development of a City newsletter to keep our community up to date on current programs, projects and activities. She served on the City Council when the first City Focus newsletter
was published in 1986.
Now almost 20 years later, the City Focus remains one of the most effective communications tools we use for disseminating news and updates. We will miss the continuous supply of story ideas and helpful tips Councilmember Vreeland provided during the past two decades. A community tribute and march (pictured) was held in her honor in late January.
We will miss her vitality, passion and community spirit.

Pay Attention to Emergency Vehicles
I
n an emergency, seconds count! Cooperation is the key to making sure emergency public safety vehicles arrive to their destination quickly and safely.
Follow these simple rules to help:
When you hear or see an emergency vehicle traveling with lights or sirens, pull over as close to the right edge of the road as possible and stop. Remain stopped until all emergency vehicles have passed.
However, don’t stop in an intersection. If you are in an intersection when you see an emergency vehicle, continue slowly through the intersection and then pull to the right as soon as possible and stop.
