Annual Report 2003
Social

The City’s communications tools, volunteer opportunities and projects geared to address the needs of youth and families help build and maintain a healthy community. Such programs ensure that residents are informed about news and issues and provide the City with vital community input on many topics.

Expanding collaborations with the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD) is a priority at the City. We’ll be looking for ways to work together to continue current or scaled-back programs and find ways to share the use of existing buildings or other facilities.

Some of our ongoing City-school collaborations include the school resource officers (Officer Todd Kessler pictured) who help ensure a safe learning environment while helping teach law and safety-related courses. And our volunteer homework pals provide one-on-one homework assistance and academic enrichment activities at afterschool centers around
the district.
