Historical fire apparatus, equipment, and photographs are located in Fire Station #2 on Hawthorne Street in New Monterey. The Fire Department has an active program of historical preservation for these items. Funding for restoration is done by public donations.

Donations can made to the Monterey Fire Department Historic Fund, C/O Division Chief Mike Ventimiglia, City Hall, Monterey, CA. 93940. Future plans of the Fire Department include a desire to construct a fire museum to house these items for the general public to view.

Arrangements to view this historic equipment can be made by calling the Monterey Fire Department, Fire Administration Office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 646.3900.

This virtual museum is expanded as time allows. If you are interested in helping add materials to this site, call 646.3900 or send an email.

The Monterey Fire Department continues to change, molding the department to meet the needs of its citizens. The department has a proud history of serving the citizens for 112 years, since 1884.
