Historical Fire Boats – Aluminum Valco Fire Boat

The Valco Aluminum Jet Fire Boat was in service in Monterey from the early 1960's to the early 1970's. Boat maintenance was high on
this boat and often it was placed out of service and could not respond. The jet intake would often get clogged with seaweed and was rendered useless on the water side of the City's Famous Cannery Row. Cannery Row through the years was plagued with numerous fires many of which were determined to be arson during the late 1960's and early 1970's.
