CERT Containers Key During Emergency
Designed to make neighborhoods more self-sufficient in times of
emergency, six large shipping containers have been placed throughout the City.
As part of the City's
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
program, the containers were provided to local neighborhood associations as a secure
location to store tools, equipment and supplies needed for disaster recovery operations.
The containers are in the following areas: Casanova Oak Knoll, Deer
Flats, Hilltop Park,
Skyline Forest, Dela Vina/Montecito and the cemetery.

CERT Members in Top Form
Disaster drills are conducted quarterly by the
Community
Emergency Response Teams (CERT) to test their ability to respond during emergencies.
A CERT drill might "simulated" a major earthquake
and the CERT's would have to respond to various scenarios without the aid of the City. In
the past drills were held in the Casanova Oak Knoll neighborhood, some scenarios included
people trapped inside of cars with hot wires lying on top, small fires and people trapped
in rubble. Team members performed first aid, light rescue and triage (priority ranking) of
the injured.
Community Emergency Response Teams receive training
