Community Emergency Response Team(CERT)
– Class Outline
Learn what to do during a disaster, discover how you can
react, assist your neighbors and survive in your own "backyard" should an
emergency arise.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members are
trained by the City to work together as a team in the most critical hours after a major
disaster. CERT training provides you and your neighbors with hands-on training in first
aid and disaster preparedness. Neighborhoods with CERT members are equipped with emergency
resources and instructed how to survive for up to 72 hours without outside assistance.
Call 646.3900 to sign up or to receive more information. You will be notified
when the next scheduled class will be given.
The CERT training program consists of six 2-hour or two
6-hour training sessions which are taught by professional firefighters and support
personnel. Each class is three hours in duration. The main attraction of
CERT training is
its hands-on training. More than 250 community members have completed the
CERT training. We need you to join that valuable group!
