There are two beach areas regulated by the City suitable for weddings. Both are located south east of Municipal Wharf No. 2. A Beach Permit is required for groups of 10 or more. For fee information see our Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees.
Chairs, arches, tents, musicians, floral arrangements, etc. are not permitted on the beach. Beaches are open to the public, therefore, the public may walk through or occupy any and all areas of the beach – you may not "cord off" the area you intend to use. The only privilege associated with a Beach Permit is the right for a "group" to assemble.
Adjacent to the beach at Monterey Bay Park, there is a group BBQ area with four tables and a maximum capacity of 50 guests. For information on permit fees to reserve the BBQ area please see our Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees. No bonfires are allowed on the beach.
If you are interested in using a nearby hall, the Monterey Youth Center, a City facility, is located across the street. Please call them at 831.646.3873 for space availability and rate information.
