Monterey Fire Contained

Update on Friday, June 20, 5:58 p.m.:
A one-acre wildland fire off Highway 1 near the Pebble Beach gate has been contained and mop-up operations are underway. CalFire and the Monterey Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire in a matter of hours. At one point, the fire was moving in the direction of homes on Cielo Vista but it was extinguished before it got close. A Monterey fire crew and police will remain in the Cielo Vista neighborhood through the evening as a safety precaution. News Release


Update on Friday, June 20, 5:25 p.m.:
This is a one-acre wildland fire near Cielo Vista and Monte Vista. Holman Highway is closed. Munras southbound is closed. Traffic between PG and Carmel is re-routed to Lighthouse and Del Monte. At this point the fire is near Cielo Vista but does not threaten any homes. Monterey Fire is working with Cal Fire to contain the fire. 10 engines are on the scene. Two air tankers dumped water on the fire. A helicopter continues to work in the area.

There is a fire reported on Highway One near the Pebble Beach gate entrance. The fire is near the Monte Vista neighborhood but at this time is not threatening any homes. The Monterey Fire Dept. is on scene and working to control the fire with the help of other departments.
