Redevelopment Agency

The City of Monterey does not have an independent Redevelopment Agency or department. The City Council acts as the City redevelopment agency. A variety of departments and divisions within the City deal with redevelopment issues and projects as they arise. For example, the Planning Division works on projects in Downtown Monterey, Cannery Row, and in the Custom House development areas. The Housing and Property Management Division receives Community Development Block Grant Funds which are primarily used for housing in Monterey.
