General Municipal Election November 4, 2008

This pamphlet has been prepared to assist you in preparing for the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. This guide does not contain all information concerning elections, but rather is a summary of major provisions related to candidates running for local office. No one should rely solely on this pamphlet. Questions may be directed to my office 831.646.3935. However, the law precludes the City Clerk’s Office from providing legal advice. Legal questions should be directed to private legal counsel.

Please note that it is not the responsibility of the City Clerk or Registrar of Voters to determine whether a candidate meets the requirements for holding office. The Declaration of Candidacy signed by each candidate states that the candidate meets the statutory and constitutional requirements to hold office. Candidates with questions concerning their qualifications for holding office should seek private legal counsel.

The City Clerk’s Office staff hopes that this pamphlet is helpful and wishes you luck in your endeavors.
