An effective government requires an involved citizenry.
The City of Monterey is
committed to providing many opportunities for community members to
participate in City government and keep up-to-date on activities and
projects. Attending and participating in City Council meetings is
just one of the ways you can get involved.
The City Council encourages community
members to express opinions on any matter of community interest that
is within the Council's scope of authority. Oral presentations
during public hearings and the Public Comment portion of the agenda
(see basic
meeting facts), written communications and oral requests are all
appropriate methods for expressing these views.
Written communication related to a public hearing should be
submitted to the City Clerk's Office no later than the Tuesday
before the Council meeting (one week in advance) in order to ensure
the correspondence is included in Council's Friday agenda packet.
This allows the Council more time to review correspondence. Any
correspondence received after delivery of the Council packet will be
provided to the Council prior to the meeting.
