Council Resolutions

The City Council adopts ordinances, resolutions, and policies during the course of regular meetings. Ordinances are the laws of a municipality and are the most binding form of action taken by the City Council. The Monterey City Code (M.C.C.) is a codification or compilation of all of the ordinances approved by the Council. Resolutions constitute a written action or decision made by the Council and are less binding than ordinances. In the City of Monterey resolutions are numbered by the year they were approved followed by a unique number for each resolution (e.g. 05-98).

The City Clerk's Office posts online newly adopted ordinances with the City Code (see the Ordinances pending codification folder below Chapter 38 of the online code.

The Clerk's Office also posts online newly adopted resolutions on one of the resolutions pages below. If you know the year a resolutions was approved, click on that link below and search for the resolutions by number or title.
