NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS
2001-2002

PROJECTS FULLY FUNDED WITH BASE ALLOCATION:

1. CONA Street Trees      $ 7,500
Purchase & planting street trees as coordinated between City Forester and residents.

2. Melway Circle Drainage Swale at #33 / #41     $ 6,320
Reconstruct catch basin inlet and driveway to allow street drainage to enter storm drain system.

3. Pearl/Camino El Estero Island Improvements    $ 3,000
Curb ramps and walkway improvements in existing island.

4. Fisherman's Flats Entry Wall Beautification - Phase 1 (Design Only)   $ 2,500
Design upgrades for the Fisherman's Flats entry sign. Proposals only.

5.  Mar Vista Drive Paving and Curb Installation - #178 - #184     $ 4,000
Install curb and conform paving in front of residents to allow storm water to drain off.

6.  Via Paraiso Park - Backboard to Practice Tennis or Handball   $ 3,000
In the area of the volley ball court, construct a backboard and paving to practice tennis and handball.

7.  Archer 500 & 700 blocks, Oak 700 block, Grace 600 block and Terry 600 block Undergrounding (Design Only)                $ 10,000
Design the undergrounding of the five blocks & survey the residents to form an assessment district.

8.  Prescott/Belden Sidewalk Bulb/Curb Ramp at Bayview School   $ 14,000
Create a larger pedestrian refuge area and shorten the crosswalk area in the street.

9.  Foam Street, #851 Sidewalk Fill-in         $ 5,000
This will complete the sidewalk in this block and reconstruct a "short width" residential driveway to a standard driveway.

10. Sloat Avenue Bikeway (Design Only)      $ 9,658
This will design the bikeway improvement on the Navy Property and the parking on Sloat Avenue for later funding

11. Old Town Tree Planting - Phase 1    $ 5,000
This will plant approximately 20 trees per the Street Tree Master Plan.

12. High Street Sidewalk In-Fill      $ 5,000
This will complete the sidewalk in this block and reconstruct a "short width" residential driveway to a standard driveway.

13. Wyndemere Rise Island Curb Reconstruction      $ 3,500
This will reconstruct the curb & cobblestone island paving that is crumbling at the end of the island and reduce the size of the island to allow emergency traffic more space to maneuver.

14. Dry Creek Road Pathway to Colton Middle School Tennis Courts      $ 5,000
Construct a safe access path from Dry Creek Road to the Colton Junior High School tennis courts.

15. Lighthouse Triangle Pedestrian Barricade     $ 500
Construct a pedestrian barricade at the end of Lighthouse Avenue sidewalk in front of the Coast Guard property.


OTHER FUNDED PROJECTS, Includes partial base allocations:

16. Wyndemere Vale Storm Drain Improvements - Phase 2     $ 150,000
This will install "check-dams" and other devices to slow down the water course as it traverses the gully.

17. Hillside Drainage Improvements - Monterey Vista   $ 200,000
This will continue to provide funding for high priority storm water drainage projects for this neighborhood.

18. English/Grant/Montecito/Casanova/Hannon/Kolb Traffic Calming - Phase 1  $ 250,000
This will identify and construct high priority traffic calming measures as agreed between the Traffic Division and neighborhood residents that were studied and designed in previous years.

19. Oak Street 700 Block Widening      $ 290,000
This will widen the street to allow for parking and 2-way traffic.

20. Deer Flats Traffic Study - Phase 1 (Initial Study)    $ 10,000
The Initial Traffic Study would evaluate vehicle & pedestrian traffic on Deer Forest Drive and generate detailed conceptual drawings for implementation in later years.

21. Old Town Storm Drainage Improvements - Clay/Jefferson, High/Jefferson & Harrison Storm Drains      $ 200,000
Installation of catch basins, pipes and paving to eliminate ponding water and surface water drainage.

22. CONA Traffic Study    $ 35,000
Study and design traffic calming devices to slow down traffic and control the flow of traffic.

23. Oak Grove Neighborhood Wide Traffic Study    $ 25,000
Study and design traffic calming devices to slow down traffic and control the flow of traffic.

24. Terry Street 700 block, Drainage Improvements (West side)     $ 122,000
Remove side ditches and construct catch basins and pipes to control drainage. Pave swales.

25. Crandall Creek Stabilization     $ 90,000
Construct check dams & bank stabilization measures to eliminate creek bed erosion and slope failure.

26. Airport Road Drainage     $ 150,000
Construct catch basins and piping to connect to existing storm drains. Eliminate flooding on N. Fremont and Airport Road.

27. Via Isola & Trapani Circle Sidewalk Infill - Phase 2      $ 35,000
Construct sidewalk fill-in at: 1.) Upper Via Isola Cul-de-sac; 2.) Trapani Circle leading to the park.

28. Installation of Highway 1/ Highway 68 Directional Signs     $ 42,000
Change the Highway directional signs to read "East Monterey".

29. Cramden Drive Catch Basin Upgrade      $ 30,000
Change the catch basins on Cramden Drive Cul-de-sac to extended inlet catch basins (higher inlet capacity) to get the water into the storm drain system.  Erosion control will not be needed.

30. Lottie (800 Block) & Withers (2100 Block) Storm Drains     $ 245,000
Construct catch basins and piping to eliminate side ditches. Pavement swales.

31. Pacific / El Dorado Signal Upgrade      $ 81,000
Signal upgrade and sidewalk construction for safe passage of pedestrian traffic through the  intersection.  The full $81,000 will be required as matching grant funds.

32. Mark Thomas Drive at School Road - Left Turn Lane     $ 75,000
Construct a westbound left turn lane on Mark Thomas Drive at School Road to safely ingress Santa

33. FY 01/02 NIP Contingency Account      $ 200,000
