11/29/2016: Downtown Monterey Street & Lane Closures

Construction in downtown Monterey will cause traffic delays from Tuesday, November 29 to Friday, December 2. The outside lanes of Del Monte Avenue will be closed from Tyler Street to Calle Principal. From Calle Principal to Pacific Street, the middle lane of Del Monte Avenue will be closed. These lanes will be closed to accommodate Monterey Conference Center and signal upgrade construction.

Del Monte Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Pacific Street to Van Buren Street. Van Buren Street is closed from Scott Street to Franklin Street. Construction crews are removing and replacing the street. 

Construction hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Expect traffic delays, construction noise and heavy equipment. The City of Monterey thanks the community for their continued patience and understanding during these important infrastructure improvement projects. 11/23/2016: Homicide in Monterey

On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at approximately 1:41 am, the Monterey Police Department (MPD) responded to the 600 block of Wave Street in Monterey on the report of gunshots being fired.  MPD arrived and located one victim at the entrance to the Cannery Row Parking Garage, located in the 600 block of Wave Street.

11/22/2016: Monterey Police Officers Save Despondent Mans Life

On Monday November 21, 2016, at approximately 4:07 p.m., Monterey Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Glenwood Circle in Monterey on a request from neighbors to check on the welfare of an individual who had not been seen recently.  A first floor apartment was flooded with water, which had originated in the second floor apartment where the individual lived.

11/17/2016: Vision Zero OTS Grant Awarded to the City of Monterey

The City of Monterey has been awarded a $74,000 California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) grant. The grant is funding the “Vision Zero” program over a one year time frame, including the purchase of educational material and development of a Vision Zero Action Plan.
